PRESIDENT'S & CO-FOUNDER'S MESSAGE

This website is a special project undertaken by Elizabeth Nisperos, who has been, since 2002, the Registrar for classes for beginners sponsored by Friends of Calligraphy at Fort Mason, San Francisco. As an enthusiastic advocate for beginning students of written letterforms, Elizabeth envisions her web site as a place especially designed to serve them and to reflect their interests.

Friends of Calligraphy, Inc., founded in 1974, is a non-profit society of persons interested in calligraphy and related arts. FOC membership is open to all, amateur and professional alike. Volunteer members of the society plan and carry out classes, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, a Spring Retreat, and a Holiday Party. Publications include a Membership Directory, the journal, Alphabet, published three times a year, at P O. Box 425194, San Francisco, CA 94142-5194.
